ABOUT LYNNSY

My history with art has been quite the journey. I've always thought of myself as a late bloomer in life and my art has been no exception. Growing up, my father taught me to take time to notice the beauty in nature. I can't even count the amount of sunsets that he had me watch with him. Inheriting his creative side led me to study graphic design at Ball State University. It was there that I began a relationship the Lord and spent the next 4 years beginning to figure out who God was and how do I fit into his plan as an artist.

Documenting my life has always been important to me; I believe that everyone has a story to tell. Whether it is through journals, photos, or paintings; being able to see where I've been and to remember God's faithfulness is invaluable to me.

"Logic will take you from A to B; imagination will take
you everywhere."

—Albert Einstein

While some of my work is a reflection of my travels, the majority depicts my spiritual journey. Behind each piece represents a very specific time, season, or lesson in my life. Sometimes I think God paints these pictures more for my growth and healing than for anyone else, yet at the same time my prayer is that the Lord will use it to build up the church and to draw people into a more intimate look at our Creator. I also realize that without the Lord I wouldn't even be able to pick up a brush, let alone make some sense out of it.

My subject matter varies, but I lean toward oil and acrylics with some watercolor and collage work as well. I prefer oils best due to the versitality of the paint, yet I am often most pleased with my collage work because of the process being more indepth and unpredictable.

I know as an artist I have a long road of learning ahead of me, but it excites me to think about the future and how as I grow in Christ, my life and art will reflect that. In the meantime, I'll just keep looking for that perfect sunset.
